Sanmina-SCI Enclosure Systems Division’s dynamic growth led to the need to combine their five existing plants into one expanded operation. Sanmina secured a large site that would house their light manufacturing plant and office requirements with remaining land available for future development. During the site selection process, Giffels was able to demonstrate its ability to offer superior value, design and construction delivery.

The light manufacturing facility features a striking two storey office overlooking Progress Avenue, grey ribbed precast exterior cladding, ESFR sprinkler system, 10 ton crane way, facilities for over 300 plant employees, ten truck level doors, and two interior truck wells.

At the ground breaking, Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman and other city councillors hailed the project as the “largest facility to be built in Scarborough in over 25 years.”
