Giffels was awarded the total design-build responsibility for a major expansion to Peel Regional Police Headquarters. Their regional headquarters addition created a joint emergency response communications centre for the police and the area fire departments.

The centre was designed to accommodate their demanding and individual needs. Special attention was paid to lighting and air conditioning to ensure an effective environment for this vital public service. The building expansion includes an identification bureau, with facilities for fingerprinting and photography, and specialized areas set aside for the storage and examination of evidence.

Particularly important is the biohazard laboratory which is designed to prevent the escape of harmful substances and to prevent the contamination of specimens which are required as evidence in criminal prosecutions.
