Giffels designed and built Mississauga’s latest multi-ice rink complex. Iceland consists of four ice rinks: an Olympic-sized rink that seats 1,000 people, and three standard rinks that accommodate between 250-300 people each. Dressing rooms are arranged between pairs of rinks. These pairs are accessed from an internal “street”. On the ground floor the street contains a proshop, a snackbar, offices and other support facilities. The second level
contains a restaurant that curves around the end of the Olympic rink, viewing areas,
skills arcade, toddlers’ area and a multi-purpose room. This fast track, design-build project took less than 12 months from proposal to completion. |
