To service their newly established retail outlets in Ontario, Quebec and Eastern Canada and to coordinate distribution services with Future Shop division, Best Buy Canada Ltd. required a new facility to expand their Brampton Distribution Centre to provide a total of 1,000,000 sf of warehouse and 130 dock positions.

Hopewell Development Corporation engaged Giffels to develop a solution which twinned the Future Shop facility (also constructed by Giffels Design-Build and completed in 2001). An elevated conveyor bridge was incorporated to facilitate stock transfer between the two warehouse and distribution facilities and to provide a common courtyard shipping/ receiving dock area and security control point.

As part of a total service package Giffels was retained by Best Buy to manage the installation of their complete tenant fit up needs including automated conveying and loading systems, racking systems, pick towers, energy conserving lighting systems, offices and staff facilities.
