Giffels provided complete consulting services for the first CNDH owned and operated 230 kV - 27.6 kV standard DESN type transformer station.

The design was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Transmission System Code, the Independent Electricity Market Operator, the Electrical Safety Authority, the Minister of Environment, and other local regulatory agencies. Giffels undertook various studies, including the Environmental Assessment, Certificate of Authorization Report, Ground Grid Study, Ground Potential Rise Study, Fault Current Study, and the Protection Relay Co-ordination Study. In addition, Giffels investigated the benefits of primary metering versus secondary metering and the use of primary circuit switches versus air break switches. Giffels prepared, tendered and evaluated packages for long construction delivery items and prepared working drawings and specifications for all architectural and engineering disciplines. Included in this scope were the preparation of protection, control and SCADA logic diagrams and the performance specifications for the integrated station control system. Giffels witnessed the testing and commissioning of the station and was present for the HONI WOVER.
