Giffels was one of four design consultants for Highway 407 in the Canadian Highways Design Corporation consortium. Structural requirements, utility conflicts and pre-installations to minimize future disruptions to the highway resulted in several detailed watermain and sewer design assignments. Projects for the Ontario Clean Water Agency (South Peel Area) and the Regional Municipality of Peel included a 1500 mm sanitary sewer, reconstruction of sections of 1200 mm and 750 mm concrete pressure pipe watermain, pre-installation of four sections of 300 mm to 500 mm watermains and the protection of an existing 400 mm ductile iron watermain.
