Giffels was retained by the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Fire Department to conduct an indoor air quality assessment at a local fire hall. Giffels monitored the air quality for parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, sulphur dioxide and particule matter at three locations including the fire hall, kitchen and EMS room. A SapphlRe Ambient Air Analyzer (Model 100E) was used to measure the parameters. The SapphlRe is a versatile gas detection system because it detects and quantifies a large number of organic and inorganic gasses. A Gilian Gil-Air 5RC pump was used to measure the particulate concentrations. A pre-wighted filter was used to collect particulate matter pumped by the Gilian Gil-Air 5RC pump. Giffels compared the air quality results to the applicable standards and provided recommendations.
