Located in Ottawa since 1991, Calgary based Smart Technologies had three different assembly facilities located within the region. The company needed to expand its office, research and development, assembly and warehousing operations to meet global demand for its wide range of education, training and collaboration products.They engaged Giffels to help identify the company’s overall process requirements and secure a site to facilitate economies in production and administration. Giffels provided a complete integrated development, design, construction and logistics solution through a seamless single point of contact. The facility includes 40,000 sf of offices on 2 floors which include folding partitions for training rooms and extensive sound proofing in meeting rooms; 100,000 sf warehouse and a 100,000 sf manufacturing area which includes special humidification controls and web based management of integrated mechanical systems to tightly control environmental systems and conditions. The site also allows Smart Technologies the flexibility for future expansion(s).
