Giffels was selected by MIB Holdings Inc., a privately owned partnership of investors, to develop Joshua’s Creek Arenas (formerly known as Dominion Twin Rinks) located on Ninth Line across from Ford of Canada and visible from the highway QEW. Giffels worked with the owner to develop the concept design and proposed the turnkey delivery of the project including land sale, design and construction. The approaching hockey season warranted an aggressive construction schedule. Joshua’s Creek Arenas features two NHL-sized ice surfaces with a total capacity of 500 seats including dasher board level seats, ample dressing rooms, two shooting pads, full service hockey store, coffee and snack bar. A full service restaurant, offices, meeting rooms, and a music/video room from which games will be taped or broadcast is also added to the second floor space.
