The Technology Applications Group is an integral part of Giffels. Originally integrated with the Information Technology Department, the Group developed out of a corporate requirement for the design and support of project management and accounting software initiatives, as well as computer aided design and drafting (CADD) systems. The role gradually expanded from an internal support group to one that began to provide value added services to clients worldwide. Today, Technology Applications is a fully realized business unit that has developed, customized, implemented and supported software and systems for its own broad client base. A primary goal is to develop unique software applications that address the needs of the Architectural, Engineering and Construction community and its related industries. Daily contact with Giffels' business professionals and direct involvement in their development strategy gives the Group an in-depth understanding of new industry trends. The resulting software solutions reflect that relationship. The Group carries out all aspects of software development. From initial meetings with clients, business process data flow and conceptual design for proposed software solutions are presented back in order to affirm the understanding of the project. Once completed, the Group proceeds with design development, coding and finally, testing. After sign-off approval by the client, the project is completed by the delivery of help files, manuals and packaging, all to a high level of professional design. The development team is comprised of personnel with years of experience in both software development and the A/E/C community itself. Their overall philosophy in developing solutions is to provide tools that allow users to concentrate on the task at hand in ways familiar to current practices.
