Giffels was retained by the City of Brampton to prepare a comprehensive feasibility study including a functional program and space requirements for the proposed 42-acre, Public Works Yard and Transit Facility at Sandalwood Yard. Giffels developed and presented to the City all viable options pertaining to consolidation of their roads and operations, fleet, traffic, transit, building administrative services, parks maintenance and operations and document control and archives departments.
In addition to the operations planning and consulting services provided, Giffels worked closely with senior City staff including commissioners and user groups and carried out a
comprehensive operations analysis for each department to confirm and make
recommendations on project scope, budgets and impact options.
Work was based on environmentally friendly and operational efficiency concepts, as the City of Brampton wanted to show case the new facility to the community as an example of being a good corporate citizen and a leader in the effort to restore the City's image as the "Flower City". The City is moving ahead with site development based on one of the Giffels options presented as part of this assignment.
